Source Material, featuring mixed media paintings by Sara Post, explores the origins of creativity, drawing inspiration from the visual and verbal elements that drive the artistic process. Post’s art reflects her keen observations of the world’s subtle changes, capturing shifts in light, evolving spaces, and dynamic shadows. Her work embraces spontaneity and subtlety in materials, surfaces, and draws inspiration from literature and music.

Sara Post is an American mixed media painter. Her textural abstractions are constructed with drawing, prints, papers, and paint. Her approach yields layered visual narratives concerned with changing natural environments. Post has worked in a variety of media since 1981, including ceramic sculpture, wall installations and textile design as well as painting and drawing. Her work is widely represented in public and private collections. She has a master’s degree in ceramics and art education from Northern Arizona University.

Her work is featured in Cold Wax Medium: Techniques, Concepts and Conversations, by Rebecca Crowell and Jerry McLaughlin. Residencies include Il Bisonte, Florence, Italy, 2006, Mendocino Art Center, Mendocino, CA 2018, Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, 2018, 2022. She has led painting workshops at American art centers since 2012 and will teach at Ballinglen Centre for the Arts, Ballycastle, Co. Mayo, Ireland, in 2024.
