Gina Gaiser – Revisiting Oakland

April 20 - June 1

Manna Gallery is thrilled to announce Revisiting Oakland, a post-pandemic photographic survey of urban landscapes by Gina Gaiser. Drawing from her Bay Area roots, Gaiser’s work focuses on the evolving dynamic between human activity and the environment, especially in areas experiencing change. Using digital techniques reminiscent of comic strips or film frames, Gaiser constructs visual stories that prompt reflection on our interactions with our surroundings. She explores the intricate relationship between daily routines and our deeper identities, uncovering the hidden beauty within ordinary city scenes.

“Call photographer Gina Gaiser a documentarian of the Anthropocene. Planned and unplanned landscapes, the way in which we build structures, occupy space, and travel from place to place: the things that Gaiser documents move, are temporary. Her shots explore evidence of life, the subtle changes over time that tell a story of our current age.” – Mary Corbin, 48hills
