“Ocean in a Drop” — Artwork by Marianna Kiraly

Inspired by psychology, and expressing her inner conflict between scientific thinking and her emotional world, her surrealistic art comes to us through novel techniques and the desire to play with mind-stretching associations.

Marianna grew up in Budapest/Hungary, moving to the US in 2009 and to the Bay Area in 2011. She has an MS in Bioengineering and a PhD in Neuoscience. After 10 years as a Research Scientist at Stanford University School of Medicine, she moved into the private sector. She currently works with a pharmaceutical startup that develops novel therapeutics to treat neuodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and brain cancer.

Her current show, “Ocean in a Drop,” presents a surrealistic journey beginning with hardship and grief, and ending with healing and inner peace.
