Join us for an exploration into the unknown with the Fathom series, a collection of abstract paintings by Lois Wachner Solomon. Inspired by the dual meanings of “fathom”—both as a measure of depth and as a pursuit of understanding—this series delves into the intuitive, responsive process of mark-making and paint. Each work is a result of a deeply responsive, intuitive process, guided by music from Miles Davis and The Dave Brubeck Quartet. With layers of marks and ever-evolving forms, the works capture the artist’s search for meaning and life within the canvas and evoke the vast, uncharted depths of the ocean and deep space, offering a contemplative journey where gravity doesn’t apply and discovery awaits.
