East Bay Art Yesterday: 100 Years of Bay Area Photography & Ceramics
November 8 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
Free
Join Mills College Art Museum for a discussion that reflects upon the history of photography and ceramics in the Bay Area, MCAM’s role within that history, and where Bay Area art is headed in the future.
Moderated by Liam O’Donoghue, local journalist and host of the podcast East Bay Yesterday, the conversation will feature MCAM Director Stephanie Hanor, Erik Scollon, Associate Professor and Head of Ceramics at California College of the Arts, and Shana Lopes, Assistant Curator of Photography at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
The quartet will discuss Bay Area artists’ roles in transforming both photography and ceramics into respected fine art forms; the artists, professors, and museum directors who have passed through this campus and shaped the Art Museum’s collection; and the artistic innovation that happened both on campus and in the wider Bay Area.
