Mark your calendar and please join us for the Artist’s Talk, Saturday, April 11th. Starting at 1 pm, San Francisco-based conceptual artist, Kristie Hansen will discuss the evolution of her art practice and her approach to developing her work.

Now on view in the Small Space at Transmission, Alternation includes 20 pieces from Kristie Hansen’s recent Parts of a Whole series in which she sourced discarded garments and accessories to construct multiple sculptural works that retain traces of their earlier life while becoming something satisfyingly new, as if they were always meant to attain these new forms.

In this way, Alternation approaches personal history not as something fixed, but as material that can be continually rearranged—an evolving structure shaped by resilience, adaptation, and persistence over time.
