Angela Johal: Intersecting Colour

Join us at SLATE Contemporary Gallery on Saturday, October 10 from 4-6pm for an artist reception in celebration of our newest exhibition, “Angela Johal: Intersecting Colour.”

This exhibition invites viewers to explore how hue and tone interact across vividly painted color fields. Johal approaches each painting as a puzzle to solve, seeking balance among dichotomous realms—physical and spiritual, light and dark, vivid and subdued—creating compositions that reveal how each color shifts, responds to, and is transformed by those around it. Steeped in color theory, Johal’s work is deeply informed by the human eye’s natural passage through dimension. This exhibition features abstracted geometric compositions that, when meditated on, transform into natural landscapes, animal-like forms, and shifting light.
