Many of the galleries that participate in Oakland’s highly popular Art Murmur gallery scene are extending their First Friday festivities to include Saturday hours, in what is hoped will lure in art enthusiasts who prefer a lower profile scene. The new Saturday Stroll is quieter and more focused on the art in the galleries. It will run every Saturday afternoon, from 1 to 5 p.m.
Future Saturday Events
May 19th – Saturday Stroll: sixteen OAM galleries and mixed use venues open 1-5pm
- 7-10pm: Uptown Arts District – Murmurama: OAM's 2nd Annual multi-venue celebration of 16 galleries and friends of OAM. Event includes art exhibiitions, film screenings, live music, food, wine, and more! Participating galleries include: Chandra Cerrito, Classic Cars West, Creative Growth, FM, Farley's East, Johannson Projects, Krowswork, Manna, Mercury 20, PHOTO, SLATE, Shadravan's, Studio Quercus, 25th Street Collective, Vessel, and Warehouse 416. Free.
- 2-4pm: Farley's Cafe – Guided Walking Tour of Five Oakland Art Murmur Galleries: Current Trends in Contemporary Art, led by Danielle Fox, Director of SLATE Contemporary. Meet at 2:00 at Farley's Cafe, 33 Grand Ave, Oakland.
- 7-10pm: Photo Gallery – Artists' Reception and Curator's Talk with René Guzman from the Oakland Musuem "Selections from Bay Area Photographers Collective."
- 7-10pm: Vessel Gallery – Artists' Reception with Town Quartet (string quartet) and Eno Wines pouring handcrafted wines.
- 7-10pm: SLATE contemporary – Artists' Reception and Exhibition Walk-through with Danielle Fox, Carol Inez Charney, Joanne Devereaux, Daniel Backman, Roy Berkowitz, and Elizabeth Williams. Walk-through at 7:00 followed by a reception until 10pm.
June 9th – Saturday Stroll: sixteen OAM galleries and mixed use venues open 1-5pm
- 2-4PM, Artist Talk Series - Tour of Sculpture included in "Vessel 8: Charting the Waters" followed by panel discussion on how sculptors navigate creative shifts and experimentation in their practice. Vessel Gallery

- 2 - 4pm: Farley's Cafe – Guided Walking Tour of Five Oakland Art Murmur Galleries Living with Sculpture and Conceptual Art, led by Charlie Milgrim, Artist and Member of Mercury 20 Gallery. Meet 2:00 at Farley's Cafe, 33 Grand Ave, Oakland.
