Sanchez Contemporary was born out of our love for the arts and artists. Our goal is to support the Bay Area Chican@/Latin@ artists and other under represented artists. We offer a space where artists can exhibit their art in a professional gallery setting. A space to share their talent and creativity with the community. Art is legacy, it’s what remains after we leave this earth. Art tells stories … we see ourselves reflected in it. In it you find our beliefs, history, familia, convictions and our everyday lives.
- The gallery offers a beautiful space for the arts, music and poetry while also enjoying a great cup of cafecito in our adjacent cafe Tertulia Coffee. The gallery will feature both group and solo shows throughout the year.
- To have your artwork considered for future show please email us at SanchezContemporary@gmail.com with links to your artist statement/resume, portfolio and website.
- We are also collectors of art and want to share our passion for collecting with others, by offering workshops on collecting art, painting, art therapy, artist panels and conversations.
- Investing in and educating our youth is also high on our priority list, therefore we will be supporting local university students with educational scholarships – (a portion of our annual silent auction proceeds will be applied to funding a scholarship fund).
Tertulia Coffee and Sanchez Contemporary invite you to use our cafe to meet with your creative collectives, book and art clubs, during our regular business hours. We are currently not offering hosted or private events. This may change in the future (2017) as we have received many requests to rent the cafe and gallery space.
We are located at 1951 Telegraph Ave. at the corner of 20th and Telegraph in Oakland, CA. (in the Uptown neighborhood). We are one block away from the 19th Street Bart Station. There is a paid parking lot across the street and you can also find metered parking in the surrounding area.
