Meet at: 5940 College Ave (north)
Oakland Art Murmur presents the Third Saturday Walking Tour on September 19th from 2-4 PM. Join OAM board member Amira Richmond as she hosts a tour that explores three art spaces along College Avenue which all celebrate community and culture in unique ways.
First, join us at the historic Thelma Harris Art Gallery, the oldest African-American owned gallery in the Bay Area. Featuring a new exhibition, Color II which presents vibrant mixed-media artists and commemorates Thelma Harris Art Gallery’s 25th anniversary.
Next we’ll walk to the California College of Arts and meet Professor Eduardo Pineda whose students just completed a mural on their outdoor campus wall. We’ll learn about its rich symbolism that honors the struggle for social justice in Oakland.
Our last stop will be Bica Coffee House where we’ll enjoy the photography of Win Hoblitzelle.
Light refreshments will be served at Thelma Harris Art Gallery. This is one walking tour you don’t want to miss!
