In this exhibition Smokie Arces uses graffiti art and the materials of spray paint, sharpie markers and acrylic paint to recreate the ancient petroglyphs found carved into stone onto canvas.

This Lonely Boricua Taino series is proof that the Taino’s are still here. The Taíno are the indigenous people of the Caribbean and Florida. At the time of European contact in the late 15th century, they were the principal inhabitants of most of Cuba, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, and Puerto Rico. This exhibit is Smokie’s declaration that her ancestors will not be forgotten.
