Title: “Mygration” Call for Art | Deadline Sept 23rd
Artist:
Dates: Jul 27th - Sep 23rd
Time: 9:00 pm - 11:30 pm

Tea Roots and Joyce Gordon Gallery is inviting visual artists to submit work that is broadly related to the theme of migration. The 2017 exhibit “Mygration” will be on view from November 3 – November 25, 2017 at Joyce Gordon Gallery in downtown Oakland. We are searching for artists whose work explores various meanings and implications of migrating people or other living members of the planet moving from one place to another with the intention of resettling and seeking better lives, or better means of livelihood.

We are open to the many interpretations of migration. Artwork can include both curent and historical references due to climate change, international movements spurred by political conditions, dire conditions, local migration due to gentrification, mass increases in living cost, or labor opportunities. Whatever your experience or perspective, make us laugh, bring us to tears; give us pause or surprise us with your perspectives on migration. Finalists will be featured at Joyce Gordon Gallery and semifinalists will be featured in our online exhibition, along with the finalists.

JURORS: David Pang (TeaRoots, E.D.), Nghi Phan (TeaRoots, Chief Curator), Lordy Rodriguez (Featured Artist), Melorra Green (Artist/Curator)

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES: Call is open to all visual artforms including painting, photography-based work, drawing, sculpture, installation and video. In addition, poets and spoken word artists will be selected to present their work in response to the exhibit.

Submission deadline is Saturday, September 23, 2017 by 10:59pm. Entry form and detailed submission guidelines can be found atwww.rootsartistregistry.com/mygration
