Interface Gallery is pleased to announce Barometer, Jon P. Geiger’s first solo show with the gallery. For this exhibition, Geiger continues his interest in exploring the natural and mediated landscape through his use of ceramic sculpture and collage. He will debut a new series of circular, wall-based works he calls Hondo Tondos, which incorporate a layering of steel, found photographs of the Western, American landscape, and magnetized, ceramic components.
The name of the tondos references the character Hondo from Louis L’Amour’s Western novels, who was made famous by John Wayne. The character’s rugged individualism itself is a construct of American identity in relation to the landscape.
Barometer will also feature two larger-scaled floor pieces that continue the theme of the tondos.
