Please join us for the First Friday presentation of solo shows from Eric Bohr and Mary Curtis Ratcliff.
Oakland based artist Eric Bohr presents “altar,” a show of new work featuring paintings and installation. Inspired by the current chaos of our political and social landscape, the artist calls attention to the need for a sacred space where we can create change and reclaim our highest nature. Using the theme of “altar” and its homonym “alter”, ideas of place, alchemy and transformation are explored in paintings, objects and installation.
“What Goes Around Comes Around” is an extension of Mary Curtis Ratcliff’s 2016 solo exhibition, “Full Circle”. Circular kinetic sculptures of various sizes and groupings are suspended from the ceiling. They are discs that carry imagery, mostly derived from nature, and many of them are in perpetual motion. “Inkblot Tree”, (2016), and “Electric Tree”, (2016), are triptychs that continuously change as they turn on their vertical axes. As the ancient Greek philosopher Heraclitus said, “the only constant is change.” It’s nature’s nature.
