SUMMARY:Topographies: Mixed Media Monotypes by Deborah Sibony
DESCRIPTION:Topographies is a solo exhibition by artist Deborah Sibony\, currently on view at Dictée Gallery. The exhibition officially celebrates its Opening Reception this Saturday\, March 21st\, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM\, followed by an Artist Presentation on Saturday\, March 28th\, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. \nThe collection features mixed media monotypes that explore the landscape as both physical terrain and intangible ground. Sibony’s work focuses on the intersection of architecture and nature—specifically abandoned industrial structures caught between deconstruction and renewal. Using litho transfers\, ink\, and painting\, the artist reveals a delicate tension between the strength of construction and the fragility of memory. \n\nGallery Hours: \n\nMon – Thurs: Closed\nFriday: 10:00 am – 3:00 pm\nSaturday: 10:00 am – 3:00 pm\nSunday: 10:00 am – 1:00 pm

SUMMARY:Opening Reception - Alternation: Kristie Hansen
DESCRIPTION:All are welcome to join us for the Opening Reception\, Saturday\, March 14th\, 1 – 4 pm. Please stop by! Meet artist Kristie Hansen\, enjoy the light refreshments and join in the conversations. Free street parking along West Grand and the neighborhood south of West Grand Ave. \nAlso on hand will be Frank Cole\, whose work is showing in concurrent solo exhibition\, “The House Inside.” \nLook for the “ART” building on West Grand Ave. in Oakland\, between Brush and West. While you’re in the area\, check out GearBox Gallery just downstairs. With two galleries in the building this is a great place to see art. \nRegular Gallery Hours: Thursdays\, Fridays and Saturdays\, 12-5 pm and by appointment \nTransmission Gallery is pleased to present Alternation\, recent work by Kristie Hansen\, now featured in our Small Space. \nDrawing on her love of second-hand fashion\, Hansen sources discarded garments and accessories to construct unconventional\, layered sculptures. In Alternation\, she transforms a single\, deeply personal object into a series of intimate sculptural forms. These works originate from a brown suede jacket that once belonged to the artist’s mother—an item passed on during a period of family transition marked by downsizing\, aging\, and the loss of a long-held home. \nRather than preserving the garment intact\, Hansen dismantles and reconfigures it\, allowing one article of clothing to generate multiple sculptural works. The suede is folded\, stitched\, and formed into soft geometric shapes that retain traces of their earlier life while becoming something entirely new. Beads taken from her mother’s jewelry are embedded along the seams; introducing variation within repetition. \nThrough this process\, Alternation reframes a private inheritance as a broader reflection on transformation. The work speaks to experiences familiar across generations: the passing down of belongings\, the reshaping of family narratives\, and the quiet negotiation between holding on and letting go.

SUMMARY:Sin Contar Cincuenta: Miguel Arzabe Solo Show
DESCRIPTION:Johansson Projects is pleased to announce Sin Contar Cincuenta\, the third solo exhibition by Oakland-based artist Miguel Arzabe with the gallery. Arriving at a moment of heightened social and cultural reckoning\, the exhibition features a dynamic body of new weavings that reflect not only a rich “pluriverse” of influences–interpolated ways of being and expression that span the artist’s personal life\, Bolivian heritage\, and art historical precedent–but also the urgent need to honor and defend cultural plurality in today’s world. \nSin Contar Cincuenta runs from January 17 – March 21\, 2026 with an opening reception and artist talk on January 17\, from 3-5pm.\nFor all inquiries\, contact Johansson Projects at 510-444-9140 or info@johanssonprojects.com
