Artist Name: FERNANDO REYES-JILL MCLENNAN -JOHANNA POETHIG-
About Artist: Art is a second career for FERNANDO REYES, who spent 17 years in banking in San Francisco. He began as a self-taught artist, then decided to seek formal art education at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (BFA '97). JOHANNA POETHIG is a contemporary artist known for her monumentally scaled murals and architecturally integrated public art, socially engaged collaborations, painting, multi media installations and performance. Her work is conceptually driven using image, text, symbol, and narrative to address critical social, cultural, and political themes. In contrast she explores nature, science, perception and the mystical, drawing visual ideas from predictive practices and mathematics. JILL MCLENNAN is a professional painter and teaching artist living in Oakland for 19 years. She works for the DeYoung Museum in San Francisco, The Museum of Children's Art in Oakland and in various schools. She founded her own organization, JMAC: Jill McLennan Arts and Community, as a platform for teaching classes, workshops, creating murals and public art.
