re.or.i.ent — The art of Dalit Fresco

Dalit was born at the intersection of Asia, Europe and Africa. When she moved to Southern CA, she thought, “How hard can it be?” And it wasn’t. Then last year she moved to Oakland and everything was different. Oakland is a place with a multitude of noises, music, and rhythms. The artwork she makes serves as a conduit between all the places that have been and that are now, between memories and dreams, re-visiting places where she once lived, and engraving new ones.
The pieces in this exhibition consider place, connecting her recent personal history back to her point of origin. It reflects her trying to be, to feel at home, and to get re-oriented.
