UMA Gallery is pleased to present a new series of works by K Pontuti in their upcoming exhibition “Icky Kitty Fuzzy Sweater.” Join them for an Opening Reception on Saturday, February 11 from 6 – 9 pm.
Icky Kitty Fuzzy Sweater is distilled in playfulness. Vivid color enlivens tenderly drawn figures within transformative installations. K shares with us a cast of characters that seem to “act” in comic inspired scenes. The familiar faces in these expressive drawings lend themselves to themes of time and the simplicity of youth. In a balance between humor and severity, K reflects upon identity with an authentic and candid perspective.
K Pontuti is a Trans, transmedia artist and filmmaker based in northern California. As a professor and department chair at the University of the Pacific, they foster accessibility to the greater conversation about Trans identity, and share their experiences moving though this space.
