Open on First Friday – Rachel Kalman: Black Swans

We’re open on first Friday until 8:00 p.m. Stop in to see the gallery with concurrent exhibitions including Rachel Kalman: Black Swans.

Kalman assembles still lifes with care, selecting flowers, fabrics, fruits and other objects and photos or images that together present a richly constructed tableau. Largely reflecting on the questionable impact we collectively have on the environment and each other, the works are painted in intriguing detail and with phenomenal precision. The symbolism and implication of each element is considered, creating both oblique and direct commentary, while composition and color lend a captivating beauty to the work.
