GearBox Gallery, Sandra Wong Orloff and Daniel Stingle; The Kids Are Alright – Reception

GearBox Gallery presents The Kids Are Alright, featuring work by Sandra Wong Orloff and Daniel Stingle. Wong Orloff’s figurative drawings are highlighted with bright lines of color that are reflective of the times and the world. Wong Orloff draws images of young people as they navigate coming of age in a pandemic. Other drawings taken from news events ask us to reconsider whether the kids are alright. Stingle finds and creates objects; assembling them in fragile constructs to represent human infrastructure and its collision with nature. Calling attention to objects that are linked to natural resource consumption and environmental degradation, Stingle aims to engage the audience by using the formal principles of ceramic art mixed with humor.
